Search Engine Optimization Using Three Way Links

Reciprocal links are, for some search engine optimization experts, still in the too hard basket when it comes to their effect on your rankings. Some believe it helps, if only a little while others believe they hurt and are at best, ignored and at worst, penalized by search engines. So what about three way links?

Three way links are not new, in fact they have been around for almost as long search engine optimization strategies. Whichever way you look at them, three way links are still reciprocal links and if search engines such as Google look down on them, then you can bet they know when you are using them.

A thread on Webmasterworld recently discussed the use of three way links and the responses were quite varied. One particular response appealed to me and is probably closer to my thoughts than many of the others:

Google most probably considers a certain percentage of straightforward reciprocals in your linking profile as part of a natural pattern… and good quality reciprocals, if they’re appropriate for the user and not excessive, will probably help you.

But Google is also big on “intent,” and is less tolerant about obvious attempts to game the algo. That’s what triangular links are. It would be hard to look at them any other way.

Intent is the real key when it comes to links, linking and search engine optimization. There are going to be times when it is mutually beneficial for two sites to exchange links. Certain websites will naturally complement each other, for example, a paint supply website and a paint brush website. It would be natural for these two sites to link to each other.

Triangular links would not necessarily complement each other. I am sure if I thought hard enough I could find an example, but they would be few and far between. Using triangular links as part of your search engine optimization strategy will generally be seen as an attempt to game the system.

If the search engines cannot currently detect them, it wont be long and they will. Rather than trying to work the system, you are far better off building links where they naturally occur and putting all your search engine optimization efforts into gaining one way links.

Optimization Tools: Three Things You Can Do In 2008 To Increase Your SEO

If you’re a webmaster who has been around for awhile then you likely have done a few things to increase your website SEO. You’ve probably optimized the dickens out of your web pages. Good for you. You’ve got your keyword density down, your code-to-content ratio optimized, your internal links are perfect, your site structure and architecture are near perfect. Now what?

Well, let this be the year for your website optimization efforts. There are three things that you can do to increase your SEO for the coming year. I recommend them all as a complete package, but if you can only do one of these then do the first one. But all three of these practices are very powerful:

  1. Start An Offsite Blog - I mean start a blog, but don’t put it on your website. Instead, buy a separate domain name and put your blog there. In the sidebar of your blog link to each page of your website using your best keyword anchor text. When you write each post on your blog be sure to link to a page on your website. This kind of blog is excellent for building inbound links to your website, which translate into SEO and particularly link building.
  2. Article Marketing - Don’t start any paid link building programs. Article marketing works far better and you get great links by engaging in this kind of advertising. It’s free if you do it yourself.
  3. Directory Submissions - Apply for a listing to every directory you qualify for. Niche directories, general directories, e-zine directories, blog directories, Yellow Page directories, you name it. If it can be called a directory and you meet the minimum qualifications for inclusion, apply for a listing.

These are called off-site SEO. They are good for link building and links are important. A good number of quality inbound links are perhaps one of the most important aspects of SEO. However, it is getting harder to find good sources of links and the search engines, particularly Google, have made their link quality guidelines much, much stricter. Still, find good links and they are invaluable.

Crawlers or robots are the programs of search engine which are released in order to collect information from the web pages in the World Wide Web. You must be wondering how your websites or web pages become listed in Google when you search about it. The mechanism is that the Google Crawler which is known as Googlebot use to crawl all the web pages in the World Wide Web and when it came across a new web pages with new contents, then it collects the information and it will get stored in the data base of Google.

But there are many crawlers and robots which are released by many other programs which slow down the server or sometimes which are not secure for the website because they will get the confidential information. In such situation, people use to block crawlers other than Googlebot because Googlebot is necessary to crawl in the web pages unless your web pages will not be listed in the Google search engine.

Sometimes many webmasters complain for Googlebot can’t access their sites. If Googlebot can’t access your websites, then ultimately your websites will not be listed in Google search engine. Sometimes it may be the cause of not showing of your websites in the Google search engine. If your hoster uses to block many crawlers, then by mistake they might have blocked the Googlebot also. Therefore you must use different crawlers blocking techniques which will not block Googlebot.
